Book Explorers Reading Club

Join us for a trip around the world with the Book Explorers Reading Club. Students keep track of their reading and then turn in their Reading Field Reports to the library. And earn rewards for each Field Report they turn in.Here is how it works for students in grades K-1st:

  • Pick up a Book Explorers Field Report in the library.

  • Each time you read a book (or have a book read to you), fill out the title and author of the book (parents can help), color in the bug next to the book title and color in the face that tells how well you liked the book (happy, straight, sad).

  • Turn in the completed (2 sides, 10 books) Field Report to the library.

  • Ms. O'Leary will record your reading by adding your name and/or stars to the Book Explorers chart (one star for each 5 books read),

  • add your name to the world map so you can watch your progress around the world (the more Field Reports you turn in, the farther you go around the world),

  • and give you a new Field Report with a special sticker on it.

  • If you have earned a trip to the Treasure Box or a free book, Ms. O'Leary will send a notice to your teacher that you can bring to the library to collect your prize (see below for more information).

Here's how it works for grades 2nd - 5th:

  • Pick up a Book Explorers Field Report from the library (2nd graders may choose from the primary or intermediate form, 3rd-5th graders must use the intermediate form)

  • Record your reading (1 short book or 2 chapters=one entry on the intermediate form) and some of the information about your book. Write a sentence or two about the chapters you read - be specific, tell me what happened, what you liked/didn't like or tell me about a character. Each intermediate Field Report has space to 5 entries

  • Return the completed Field Report to the library.

  • Ms. O'Leary will record your reading on the Book Explorers chart, the world map and give you 2 Book Bucks for each report you turn in.

  • You will receive a notice from your teacher if you have earned a trip to the Treasure Box or a free book.

For every 2 Field Reports turned in students earn a trip to the Library Treasure Box and they earn a free book for every 3rd Field Report turned in! New goodies and new books are being added all the time to the Treasure Box. So keep reading!

AND, while you are earning great prizes you can watch your progress traveling around the world!
